I will try to be brief. Let me just say your 4x4x4 HYPNOCUBE is nothing less than astonishing! It is totally awesome!!! There is only one big flaw you have failed to forsee; THE POWER CORD! You must and should make it at least 10 feet long, for many reasons, like for people who don;t have newer homes, make not have a power socket, where they want to set it. And, it is impossible to set it upon a dresser or chester, etc., with the cord being long enough to reach down to the power socket in the wall,… and so on. The cord is so short, it does not leave you many options where and how you can place or set it. You should charge and extra 5 or 10 bucks, if necessary, so that you can give your customers and future buyers the options of placing it wherever, and however the may want in their home, etc. . I was shocked at how short the cord is after taking it out of the box. I can only set it on the floor, unless I use an extention cord, but I don;t want to have to use a big extention cord, for such a cool gadget. Unless making the cord longer, will cause somekind of voltage problem, I am sure customers would rather pay a little more, and have a longer cord. You can never have enough rope, wire, or cord for something, but if it;s too short, “it just won;t reach. You know what I am saying? I wanted to try to cut into it and extend it myself, but I was afraid I would cause damage somekind of way as to the voltage, etc.
    Can you make it longer?
Last, can you give me an estimation of the DATE YOUR 8x8X8 CUBE WILL BE READY FOR SALE, AND THE ESTIMATED PRICE>? A PERSONAL E-MAIL WOULD BE SO MUCH APPRECIATED THE DAY YOU ARE GOING TO PUT THEM UP FOR SALE.
And the warning about how to hold it from the bottom, was so smart as well; I really glad you put that in your box on the information sheet, cause I would have never thought that the top would come off like that! I know I would have dropped it! And yeah, I am sure it would still work, but it would not look cool anymore; it has got to be all lined up perfect like you make it. That is one of the big secrets of the success of your Gadget. Like a band, cheerleaders, on a football field,…everyone has to be together in unisome, or it just looks messy! But don;t change that feature,…leave it so that you can take it off, or leave it on. That is what is also cool about it too! JUST MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE THE WARNING ON THE INFORMATION SHEET, ” DO NOT HOLD FROM THE TOP, ONLY FROM THE BOTTOM, OR YOUR WILL DROP IT,…you know how you said it. If you drop it, you will have ruein it! Okay, answer my questions pleassseee! (-: I will support you all I can!

      Hi Lawrence,

Point taken about the cord length; I’ll look into getting a longer cord for the next revision. In the meantime, if you want to get a longer cord, any 9VDC 300ma+ power adapter with a 5.5×2.1mm center positive barrel plug should work, such as this one from SparkFun https://www.sparkfun.com/products/298 (though that particular one is out of stock at the moment.)

If you want to extend it yourself there shouldn’t be any problems, but of course it is at your own risk.

As for the 8Cube, the plan is for it to be released end-of-summer (which is intentionally a bit vague, since we ourselves don’t really know.) I’ll be happy to let you know when it becomes available.

      Cheers,

      Gene

Is the launch of the 8x8x8 cube limited by software development?

Purchased my first 4x4x4 just a month ago, and am buying a 4x4x4 kit for my grandson to build .

      Hi Neil,

Yeah, it’s mostly been held up by the software.

      Thanks for your orders!

Based on this comment I ordered this power supply since I lost my other one and this size doesn’t fit. The connector is too large to fit the Hypnocube from Thinkgeek. I am now ordering another universal adapter with varied size plugs to interchange

Hmm, thanks for the feedback. If you need another replacement adapter we can get you one too – it’s not listed in the store but just shoot me message from the contact page.
