OMG I can’t wait!
Here’s a thought…building the leds will be very time consuming. Have you thought about having a 2 part kit? Part 1 would be the parts to build the led lattices…Part 2 would be the rest.

So in other words, you could get started building it before the whole thing was ready? We could certainly do that, but I’m a little concerned about leaving people hanging if the rest of the 8Cube takes longer than anticipated (as it has been so far.)
Also, we got a bunch of LED lattices made which I think we will offer to save a huge amount of time on the kit. Some people might still want to build everything themselves, of course.
All of that said, if you want to get started on building the LED lattices, I have no problem with selling you the parts now.

is there a cost estimate for the 8x8x8? I am very interested in this and would like to weigh buying one outright vs. a noobish attempt at building my own.

It’s not finalized, but the cost estimate is about $800 for the kit and $1200 for a finished unit.
